In this week on the SwimSwam Breakdown, the Olympics are over and ISL season 3 is coming in hot. Here are this week’s top stories:
- For ISL season 3, several athletes across the league will only be partial participants in the 2021 regular season and/or miss it altogether, most notably the Cali Condors’ Caeleb Dressel. Load management has officially reached swimming.
- FINA has finalized its 2021 Swimming World Cup calendar, which will feature 4 legs in Europe and the Middle East. Those dates represent 4 of the original 6 cities announced. August stops in Jinan, China and Singapore were already announced as canceled in May.
- The ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 announced their alliance on Tuesday after news of the three Power Five NCAA conferences joining forces in some capacity was reported last week.
- Pleasanton Seahawks head coach Steve Morsilli has received a public reprimand from the Pacific Swimming LSC after an incident that involved him throwing a cone at an athlete mid race.
- Former NCAA, United States, and International Swimming League coach Jonty Skinner is now coaching youth soccer at the Academy girls group at Tuscaloosa United Soccer Club, consisting of around 33 players ages 7-10. He also coaches a 15 & under girls competitive team.
- Megan Oesting will become the new head coach at Bend Swim Club after parting ways with SwimMAC Carolina earlier in the summer. The club, located in Bend, Oregon, is a nonprofit, board-governed organization.
