JACKSONVILLE, ALA. --- The Chattanooga Mocs' indoor volleyball program looks to hand the Jacksonville State Gamecocks their first loss of the season Tuesday evening as the teams continue nonconference action. First serve inside the Pete Matthews Coliseum is set for 7 p.m. EST.

CHATTANOOGA NOTES

  • Opened the 2021 season with a 3-1 win over Georgia State, winning consecutive season openers for the first time since the 2011-12 seasons.
  • The Mocs concluded the season-opening tournament with 3-0 setbacks to Memphis and California Baptist.
  • Gylian Finch led the Mocs averaging 3.60 kills per set and added three digs per set to her line throughout the weekend. Defensively, Paige Gallentine averaged 4.40 digs per set, and at the net, Marcelle Baez-Carlo and Coniah Davis totaled 1.11 and 1.10 blocks per set, respectfully.
  • Sophia Bossong handled the setter duties for the Blue and Gold at the Georgia State Invitational and posted two double-doubles, totaling 93 assists over the course of the three matches.
  • Kate Neill leads the squad with a .217 hitting percentage, totaling 18 kills last weekend.
  • Junior attacker, Maia Rackel, sits four kills away from being the second active player on the roster to reach the 500-kill mark…. She currently sits at 496.
  • Through the first weekend of the season, the Mocs sit second among SoCon teams in assists (11.60 per set) and digs (15.30 per set).
JACKSONVILLE STATE NOTES
  • Jacksonville State began its 2021 campaign with three straight sweeps, defeating Gardner-Webb, Alabama State and Middle Tennessee at the Gamecock Classic.
  • The Gamecocks are hitting .393 after the first weekend compared to their opponents holding a .167 attack clip.
  • The team averages 14.3 kills per set, 2.1 aces and 1.4 blocks per set.
  • Offensively, Lena Kindermann leads the squad with 29 kills, 13 more than the next player. Anna Nelson leads the team with five aces, while Zoe Gonzales recorded seven blocks over the weekend.
  • Kindermann was named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team; the Gamecocks were picked to finish fifth.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 12th meeting all-time between the two teams. Chattanooga is 7-4 against the Gamecocks, while JSU leads 3-2 in Alabama.
