The Pride got off to a hot start for the 2021 season and is coming off a 5-1 victory against local rival, Stony Brook on Thursday evening. Shepherd was unstoppable all night long, contributing on four of Hofstra's five goals with her first career hat trick and one assist, totaling a career-high seven points. Taylor got Hofstra on the scoreboard first, while Amanda Ebbesson put the cherry on top with her first goal in a Hofstra uniform. Defensively, Hofstra limited the Seawolves to just one shot attempt.
UAlbany had its season opener at Syracuse canceled due to weather, so now the Great Danes will open up their season against Hofstra on Sunday. UAlbany returns their top two players, the twin duo of Jasmine and Jada Colbert, who combined for seven goals and three assists last season. Jasmine Colbert led the team with five goals, while Jada Colbert tied for a team-high two assists.
Following Sunday's contest, Hofstra will return home for a Friday afternoon meeting with the Brown Bears. Kick-off at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
