Zion Johnson Named AP Preseason First-Team All-American - BC Interruption

boonoor.blogspot.com

Yesterday, BC’s Zion Johnson was named to the AP Preseason 2021 All-America First Team. The graduate student returned to BC despite being pegged as a top guard prospect for the NFL.

The Maryland native came to BC from Davidson and soon reunited with his old offensive line coach Matt Applebaum. His 2019 season with the Eagles put him on the map and resulted in an All-ACC Second Team selection. Named captain last season, he still graded out as BC’s top lineman. The 6-3, 316 pound is unbelievably strong and has now played in three unique systems. Johnson surprisingly chose to return to BC for one last ride and we are all happier for the choice. He’ll return to his more natural left guard position and continue to dominate. With another year in the same system and alongside the same hog mollies, he should propel even higher up draft boards.

Johnson was listed alongside Notre Dame’s senior guard Cain Madden. Naturally, Clemson is the only other ACC school with a first-team selection.

Congratulations to Zion!!
