Donna Brown hit a blistering .474 with nine kills and zero errors to go along with four blocks while Emma Price totaled 10 kills, five digs and three blocks. Freshman setter Ashley Cudiamat posted 27 assists and six digs in the outing while classmate Avery Horejsi provided a serving spark off the bench with two service aces late in the third set.

DePaul (1-1) controlled the net as the Blue Demons posted a team total of 11 blocks to Central Michigan's five.

Set One: After trailing 7-6, the Blue Demons went on a 3-0 run to retake the lead at 9-7. The Blue Demons saw their lead balloon to 14-10 after a pair of Chippewas errors combined with a Karl kill and DePaul block manufactured by Brown and Karl. CMU tied the set at 18 apiece before incurring three hitting errors followed by a Kindelberger kill to give DePaul a 22-18 edge.  Brown earned the Blue Demons set point before CMU's 11th hitting error of the set gave DePaul the 1-0 lead.

Set Two: The Blue Demons used a 4-0 run to jump out to an early 10-8 lead behind a pair of kills from Karl and Brown and two Chippewas attack errors. DePaul opened up the second frame with a 5-0 run to arrive at a 16-11 advantage with two kills from Brown and one apiece from Price and Pressly. A Karl kill earned the Blue Demons set point at 24-19 before CMU rattled off a 4-0 run to force a DePaul timeout. Out of the break, Brown slammed down her sixth kill of the afternoon to put the Blue Demons ahead, 2-0.

Set Three: Central Michigan saw a 14-10 set three lead turn into a 20-15 edge to force Zidek to call a timeout and regroup the Blue Demons. Out of the 75 second break, DePaul embarked on a 10-0 run to comeback and clinch the set and the match sweep. With Horejsi behind the service line, DePaul received multiple kills each from Brown, Price, and Pressly late in the third to go along with a few Chippewa service errors to mount the comeback and earn the first victory of the season.

From Head Coach Marie Zidek:
"We had more stable offensive presence today when it mattered most late in sets. Donna and Emma were major impacts on their rotations today and when they make those impacts, it opens up the court for us.

I thought our setters did a nice job of keeping our attackers in rhythm today as well. Our game changing role players, specifically Avery, provided us a spark down the stretch to come back in that third set."

Overall, we did a nice job of hitting our service zones allowing us to create quality transition opportunities. We look forward to another growth opportunity this evening against Bradley."

Up Next: The Blue Demons close out weekend action at the Renaissance Coliseum against Bradley with first serve set for 7 p.m. Saturday evening's match can be seen on ESPN3.
