SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated the Bryant University Bulldogs, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Soccer Field.
The first half of the non-conference match-up was played to a 0-0 tie.
First Goal (Maine 1-0): With just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation, Delaney LaBonte scored her first career goal. The unassisted goal was all Kira Kutzinski needed to secure the second win of the 2021 season with the Black Bears.
Both squads recorded six shots on goal while also tying 7-7 in corner kicks.
Along with LaBonte's first career goal, Karin Kronberg made her collegiate debut for Maine. Emma Donovan, Abby Kraemer, Amanda Sandberg, and Gaby Panagakos all tallied shots on goal.
Kutzinski turned away five more during her second shutout of the 2021 season.
Next: The Black Bears are back on the pitch Sunday, September 5th vs Quinnipiac. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
