OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was impressive in his first full-team training camp of the year, which comes after another tough bout with COVID-19.

Jackson "got hit pretty hard with the symptoms" after testing positive for the coronavirus on July 27. He missed the previous 10 days of camp, which is the NFL rule for unvaccinated players who receive a positive result.

On Saturday, Jackson was 11-of-19 (which includes four drops) in limited work in 7-on-7 and team drills and looked like himself, scrambling away from pressure and throwing on the run.

"I thought he looked really good. I thought he looked better than I expected him to," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said after Saturday's practice. "COVID is tough. He had symptoms. He had a lot of symptoms. It speaks to how well he took care of himself during that time. It was a good first step."

This marked the second time in eight months that Jackson had tested positive for the coronavirus. Last November, Jackson acknowledged he experienced flu-like symptoms after being infected with COVID-19.

This time, he once again dealt with the effects from the coronavirus. On Friday, Jackson underwent tests before being activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Jackson showed no lingering aftereffects from the illness. He didn't have a full workload, but he was spirited throughout practice.

Jackson's best play was running to his left and uncorking a great deep throw to the left sideline, where the pass went off the hands of tight end Mark Andrews. Harbaugh went over to Jackson and gave him a congratulatory slap on the chest.

Jackson's return comes seven days before the Ravens' preseason opener and five weeks before their Sept. 13 regular-season opener at the Las Vegas Raiders. Harbaugh isn't worried about Jackson catching up after missing eight full-team practices.

"I don't think it's going to be that hard for him," Harbaugh said. "He's already been through most of the offense. He's played in games for a number of years. He's been through this. [The offense is] on the beltway, and we're moving at about 75-plus [mph]. He's going to merge right in there."

In other injury news, Harbaugh confirmed that cornerback Jimmy Smith suffered a low ankle sprain Friday. He is expected to miss one or two weeks of camp.

Jackson is scheduled to speak to reporters next week.
