boonoor.blogspot.com
WACO, Texas. – Baylor men's golf senior Colin Kober has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I At-Large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Kober is a first-team honoree, becoming the fourth Baylor student-athlete to earn first-team honors on the Academic All-America At-Large team. He joins Lisa Stone (1990 & 1991 women's track & field), Karin Ernstrom (2000 women's track & field) and Michal Kokta (2007 men's tennis) as Baylor's only first-team at-large selections.

Kober is Baylor's first golfer to earn Academic All-America recognition, and he extends Baylor Athletics' streak to 26 consecutive years with an Academic All-American. He's the first Bear to earn first-team honors in any sport since football's Spencer Drango in 2015.

Academic All-America At-Large teams are comprised of student-athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women, bowling, crew and field hockey for women and volleyball and wrestling for men.

Kober is the nation's only men's golfer named to the Academic All-America At-Large first team and one of seven golfers named to any of the three teams. All told, 46 student-athletes were recognized on the men's at-large teams, with 16 on the first and third teams and 14 on the second team. The 16 first-team honorees had an average GPA of 3.96, and Kober is one of 11 on the first team with perfect 4.00 GPAs.

Four Big 12 student-athletes were recognized on the men's side, with Kober and West Virginia's David Koenders (rifle) on the first team and Texas Tech's Bjorn Thomson (tennis) and Sandy Scott (golf) honored on the second and third teams, respectively.

Kober was also recognized along with three teammates as GCAA All-America Scholars. He was joined by Cooper Dossey, Travis McInroe and Mark Reppe, giving the Bears four All-America Scholars for the first time in program history. Kober and Dossey earned the recognition for a second-consecutive year and will both have a chance to become Baylor's first three-time honorees when they return for their fifth years in 2020-21, while Reppe and McInroe were first-time selections.
