DONIPHAN, Neb. (KSNB) - The Annual Winter Bridal Expo returned to Doniphan on Sunday. It gave brides and grooms the chance to plan the wedding of their dreams.
“Planning a wedding with the pandemic going on where you can’t be with your family and friends and your bridal party regularly is super stressful,” said Bride-to-Be Olivia Rash.
Rash got engaged to her high school sweetheart in September. She came all the way from Lincoln where she lives currently to attend the winter bridal expo in Doniphan.
Since her wedding is Hastings, she wanted to book vendors nearby.
“I don’t want to hire somebody who’s all the way back in Lincoln and then have to worry about them travelling all the way back this way,” Rash said.
There were about 36 wedding vendors to choose from this year. There were florists, DJs, photographers and any other business catered to making couples’ wedding dreams come true.
“It’s been really exciting to see new vendors with the pandemic and everything that are still excited working with brides and grooms going forward with planning their special days,” said H and H Show Productions Producer Hollie Klimek.
This is the first year the Winter Bridal Expo has been in Doniphan and the first time they’ve had it this late in the year.
“We weren’t sure really with the restrictions and everything what was going to happen in January, so we went ahead and moved it to the spring,” Klimek said.
They were worried with graduations and other holidays being the focus right now, the turnout would be a lot less than previous years.
“We were hoping and just praying that with everything that’s happened that the excitement would carry forward to this day and we’ve just had constant traffic all day which I think is really nice because it is spacing it out for everybody,” Klimek said.
With the pandemic impacting the wedding industry, organizers were honored they could provide a space for brides to plan their special day.
