Wingate Makes Eight Stops and Keefe with Career-Topping Six Scores for Washington
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Visiting Washington College tallied its first shutout in four years with a 17-0 blanking of host McDaniel on Saturday afternoon at Gill Stadium in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action. The Shorewomen improve to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Green Terror 0-2 in overall and Centennial play. It was the Shorewomen's first shutout victory since an 18-0 win at Bryn Mawr on April 15, 2017.

How It Happened
- Colleen Keefe would put the Shorewomen ahead for the rest of the game just 4:23 into the game on a free position tally. She would make it 2-0 just 91 seconds later on a pass from Sydney Allender.
- After Ellie Morrall made it 3-0 with 21:47 remaining in the first half on a free position, Anna Bennett scored back-to-back goals to push the lead to 5-0 with 20:35 to go in the first as she scored her pair in a span of 36 seconds.
- Washington would score five more times in the first half to take a 10-0 lead at halftime with Keefe scoring two of the five to give her four scores in the first half.
- The Shorewomen netted seven goals in the second via six different scorers.
- McDaniel's final chance to get onto the scoreboard came with 2:29 left in the contest on a shot by Emily Sheppard, but her chance was stopped by Washington goalie Sydney Wingate.
For The Shorewomen (2-2, 1-1 CC)
- Scoring: Keefe (career-high six goals), Olivia Miller (career-best four points on two goals and two assists), Bennett (three goals), Allender (two assists and goal), Morrall (two goals)
- In Goal: Wingate (60:00, eight saves, zero goals, three ground balls)
- Morrall (career-best five draw controls and team-best three caused turnovers)
- The Shorewomen outshot the hosts 25-11, won 14 of the game's 19 draw controls and had 14 caused turnovers.
- WC went 18-for-20 in clears, went 5-for-6 in free position shots and picked up 16 ground balls.
For McDaniel (0-2, 0-2 CC)
- Scoring: None
- In Goal: Hannah Miller (43:52, seven saves, 13 goals), Astrid Jensen (16:08, zero saves, four goals)
- Courtney Shumake (contest-bests four caused turnovers and four ground balls)
- The Green Terror went 11-for-18 in clears and had one more turnover than WC, 17-16.
- McDaniel went 0-for-1 in free position chances, totaled 17 ground balls and recorded 10 caused turnovers.
Notes
- It was the program's seventh all-time shutout with five of the seven coming since 2013. Washington has kept a clean sheet against Bryn Mawr four times and Dickinson, McDaniel and Rhode Island College one time each.
- The Shorewomen have won 11 straight over the Green Terror, a run that began in 2011, and has evened the all-time series at 20-20.
