The daily spot Choice box beef cutout ended the week on Friday, June 12 at $230.64. This was $ 30.84 lower compared to previous Friday.. It then dropped down to $228.61 on Monday June 15 so now it is very close to last year. Last year, it was $222.23, which was about steady for last year.
The weekly average Choice cutout, which includes all types of sales including the daily Choice cutout was $250.05. This was $61.63 lower week over week. It follows the daily cutout just a little slower and it is now very close to previous years, but still higher than last year yet. It will no doubt continue to drop lower following the daily Choice cutout continued decline.
Exports lead the way
The good news again this week was there were 7,595 total loads sold for the week which was 829 loads higher than the previous week. This was helped again by the exports.
The exports as reported on the box beef report were 1,194 loads. That was only 40 loads lower compared to the previous week but still very good with three weeks in a row over 1,000 loads which has been the biggest three weeks in a long time.
