EATON COUNTY, MI – A semitruck hauling a load of corn toppled over Tuesday morning during a crash in Chester Township, spilling its contents on the side of the roadway.
Police were called at 10:10 a.m. June 16, to the area of M-50 and Gresham Highway in Eaton County for a report of a crash involving an SUV and a semitruck, according to Michigan State Police.
The semitruck, hauling a two large trailers loaded with corn, failed to stop at a safe distance for the SUV and hit the vehicle on its driver’s side before losing control and toppling over, police said.
The driver of the driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital to be checked out for minor injuries, police said.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, police said.
