Colonels Take To The Road For The First Time, Face Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
For the first time this season, EKU will take to the road when the Colonels play at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday.The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
- Saturday's game will mark the Colonels first trip to Wisconsin since playing at No. 4 Wisconsin on Dec. 14, 2013.
THE COLONELS
- Eastern Kentucky is off to a 2-0 start after dispatching Ohio Valley, 103-74, on Thursday.
- Senior Russhard Cruickshank will be returning to his hometown of Milwaukee.
- Tariq Balogun's seven blocks against Ohio Valley tied the program record set by Eric Stutz against Southeast Missouri on Feb. 2, 2013.
- Seven players scored in double figures for Eastern Kentucky against OVU.
- Jomaru Brown played in his first game since Dec. 12, 2021 and had five steals to go along with 12 points against Ohio Valley.
- Eastern Kentucky had 18 steals and forced 29 turnovers. The Colonels out-scored the Fighting Scots 40-12 off turnovers.
- The Colonels hit 14 three-pointers in the season-opener against Georgetown. EKU knocked down 14 more in game two against OVU.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Milwaukee is 1-0 this season after opening 2021-22 with a 75-60 victory at North Dakota on Tuesday.
- Freshman Patrick Baldwin Jr. led the Panthers with 21 points against North Dakota. He made 6-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-7 from 3-point range. Baldwin was 7-of-8 at the free throw line, grabbed 10 rebounds and had an assist.
- DeAndre Gholston added 14 points and six boards.
- Milwaukee shot 43 percent from the field and 40 percent (6-of-15) from 3-point land. The Panthers had two fewer turnovers than North Dakota, but were out-rebounded by eight.
- The 6-foot-9, 220-pound Baldwin was a five-star recruit and the top ranked shooting forward in the country for the class of 2021. He chose to play for his father, Pat Baldwin, at Milwaukee.
- Gholston is a 6-foot-5 junior guard. He led the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game last season.
