How do The King of Fighters 15's load times compare between PlayStation 5, PS4 Pro and PS4? - EventHubs

Well it's not quite Chris command dash fast certainly

The King of Fighters 15 is entering its final night of the game's first open beta, which is playable between three different Sony consoles.

With one of the PlayStation 5's big selling points being its ridiculously fast SSD, we decided to see what KOF15's load times are like on the next gen hardware and compare it to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro in multiple regards.

Starting with booting the demo version from the system's home screen, KOF15 took 23 seconds to reach the title screen on a base PS4 while mashing through the company logos.

The PS4 Pro was a bit quicker to the draw at 19 seconds, but the PS5 cuts that down even further to around 12 seconds from our tests.

Unlike some recent fighting games, KOF15 doesn't seem to leave players hanging on the start screen and waiting too long to hit the main menu no matter where you play.

On my launch PS4, it took me only 6 seconds to login and get to the main menu, and my PS4 Pro was actually a longer wait at 12 seconds.

Our test on PS5 took 4 seconds, so it again came out on top as it should — but just barely.

Loading into Versus or Training takes about the same amount of time on your system of choice, ranging between 23–25 on base PS4 and 21–23 seconds on PS4 Pro.

Once again the PS5 cut that time in half of getting from the stage select to intros at 11 seconds.

Overall, loading times appear to be twice as fast on PS5 compared to the older consoles, but still not quite as fast as if the fighting game was made solely for the newer consoles.

Nothing feels excruciatingly long to get to in KOF15 although getting into an actual match does feel like it can be a bit too long to start on PS4 — but it seems about average for fighters on the system.

This could be mitigated a bit by including some player tips or something in these load screens instead of the pure black after seeing the characters — or just leave it on that character screen.

It is important to keep in mind though that The King of Fighters 15 is still very much in development, and these times could change when the full release drops next February.

Stay tuned to EventHubs for a graphical comparison between the PS4s and PS5 as well as our full impressions of the KOF beta in the coming days.
