The Racers carded a team score of 298 in the first round of the three-day event and shared sixth place with Toledo. Oral Roberts was the 18-hole leader at 286 and followed by Arkansas State (287), Central Arkansas (290), Middle Tennessee (291) and Creighton (296). The Racers were two shots ahead of seventh place Cincinnati (300).
Murray State's Alma Garcia and Ana Picchi were both in the top-15 of the field of 84 players. Garcia was in sixth place on a score of even-par 72, while Picchi was 15th after a score of 73. Other MSU scores and places included Sarah Forsythe with a spot in 29th position after a 75 and Payton Carter, a winner last week in Alabama, was in 47th place on a score of 78. Eliza Mae Kho was in 79th place after an 86. MSU's Emmie Eriksson was fourth among 10 solo players at Ozark National with a spot in 53rd place overall on a score of 79.
Arkansas State's Olivia Schmidt was the first-round medalist leader with a score of 66.
