Guilty Gear Strive's newly reduced load times are actually a massive improvement though apparently not for everyone - EventHubs

There's a lot to love about Guilty Gear Strive, but one of the biggest detractors from the game since before launch was just how long it took to actually start playing it.

After fans took matters into their own hands to reduce the initial server login time, Arc System Works stepped in with their own fix in the Version 1.10 update last week, which appears to have made a massive improvement for many players — but not all of them.

In my own personal testing on the PlayStation 4 Pro version of Strive, the game now only takes 20 seconds to get from the login screen to the main menu and about 53 seconds from launching from the PS4 XMB.

Before it averaged around 1 to 1.5 minutes from the login screen, so it almost feels like nothing now.

Everyone should have seen an improvement with the update, but a large number of players are likely still waiting too long to actually get to hop into Training or online.

Players in Europe reported that it would take them 3—5 minutes to simply get to the main menu, which has now decreased to around 1.5—2 minutes on average from what we've seen.

According to the creator of the Totsugeki program, many of the core issues that existed are still around including needing to ping servers in Japan a multitude of times — so the farther away you are, the more time it'll likely take at the login screen.

For PC players, Totsugeki has been updated to work with the new patch, and can help reduce times even further.

One player in western Europe stated it took them around 1.5 minutes to get to the main menu post patch, but with Totsugeki, that time went all the way down to more around 20 seconds.

So while it seems that this adjustment from ArcSys should make getting into the game a much less tedious affair to begin for players in North America, Asia and Australia, other regions still deal with exceedingly long load times.

I can't say for certain, but it feels like the reduced time also impacts how long it takes to start playing online modes as well, which is certainly welcome if true.

Hopefully ArcSys will continue to address their server usage and make it so all players no longer need to wait multiple minutes simply just to get to the main menu.
