HEBRON, Conn. — Senior Matthew Schwab won his first-ever collegiate tournament on Monday, as the Hartford men's golf team captured the team title at the Hartford/Blackledge Invitational. Schwab carded an even-par 72 over the single-round event to lead a field of 46 and help the Hawks win the tournament title by three strokes.

TOURNAMENT NOTES & HARTFORD HIGHLIGHTS
- Placing three scorers in the top five, and four in the top-10, Hartford combined for a 296 (+8) to edge Sacred Heart (299; +11) by three strokes
- Posting three birdies on the front nine, Schwab's 72 is his lowest round of the young 2020-21 season
- Schwab finished one stroke ahead of Sacred Heart's Saptak Talwar and Fairfield's Shane DeVincenzo
- Also tying for second was freshman Michael Amari, who carded a 73 (+1) as an individual
- Grad student Elias Gross recorded a 74 (+2) to tie for fifth
- Senior Ryan Tomaso and sophomore Conor Byrne rounded out the Hawks' top-10 finishers after they each tied for ninth with 75s (+3)

The turnaround is quick for the Hawks, as they return to action on Friday when they host an event at Wintonbury Hills Golf Club in Bloomfield, Conn.
