Fort Worth, Texas- The Husker Rifle team fell to 5-1 with a loss to No 4 TCU on Sunday. TCU scored a 4,702 while the Huskers shot a 4,677. UTEP also competed and scored a 4,590.
The Huskers were led by sophomore Cecelia Ossi, who placed third with a score of 1,172. Fifth-year Emily Cheramie placed fifth with a 1,170. Sophomore Madelynn Erickson (1,169) and senior Elena Flake (1,166) rounded out scoring game with seventh and 10th place finishes, respectively.
Head Coach Mindy Miles is looking for the team to improve on their overall score going into the rest of the season.
"Once again, the team shot a 4,677, a score that the team knows they need to improve in order to advance to the NCAA Championships this spring."
Ossi placed first in the smallbore with a 588, which is her new personal best. Erickson placed fifth (582) and Cheramie placed ninth (579).
In the air rifle, Cheramie placed fourth with a score of 591. She was followed by Flake in sixth (589), Erickson in seventh (587) and Ossi in 10th (584). This was Cheramie's first air rifle match of the season, as she had only competed in smallbore in the first five matches.
The Huskers will be back home on Nov. 20 and 21 to take on Air Force.
