• Pitt seeks its first 4-1 start since the 2015 season. Over the past 20 years, the Panthers have opened with a 4-1 mark six times (2000, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2015).

• First-year Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley owns significant Pitt ties. He was a defensive assistant coach for the Panthers under Dave Wannstedt from 2006-10.

• Since 2015, Pat Narduzzi has directed Pitt to 26 victories in ACC play, the third-highest win total (tied with Virginia Tech) during that span, trailing only Clemson (40) and Miami (27).

• The Panthers boast top-15 national rankings in total defense (second, 232.3 yards per game), rushing defense (second, 57.5 yards per game), scoring defense (11th, 15.0 points per game) and passing defense (13th, 174.8 yards per game).

• Kenny Pickett leads the ACC in total passing yards with 1,123. He is coming off a career 411-yard effort against NC State.

• Alex Kessman is closing in on Pitt's career field goals record. Kessman has 52 career field goals, trailing only all-time leader Chris Blewitt, who kicked 55 from 2013-16.
