BULLARD, Texas (October 27, 2020) – Lubbock Christian University's men's golf team sits in fourth place after the first two rounds of the UT Tyler Fall Invite, shooting an overall score of 601 on the first day of play.
 
The Chaps were in fourth after the first round of play, shooting a 298 in the morning round. The team followed up with a 303 in the second round, putting them in fourth. LCU is only seven strokes back of third place and sits two strokes ahead of the fifth-place team, Texas A&M-Commerce.
 
Lubbock Christian was the third-best team in both par-4 and par-5 scoring. As a team, they carded 112 pars and 17 birdies.
 
Zach Burkholder was the Chaparral leader for the day and is currently tied for 14^th place individually. The Arizona native was in 15^th after the first round after shooting a 74. He then followed up with a 76 in the second round, giving him a total of 150.  He had five birdies on the day to go along with 22 pars.
 
Jeff Maciejewski and Jake Bowen posted the second-best LCU scores, both ending the day in a tie for 18^th. The two Chap golfers had exactly opposite days of one another. Bowen had the best opening round on the Lubbock Christian team with a 71, followed by an 80 in the second round. Maciejewski shot an 80 in the morning and bounced back strong with a 71 in round two.
 
The other two Chaps who contributed to the team score also ended the first day in a tie, with Maxwell Mitchell and Braxton Floyd tying for 26^th with identical scores of 155. Mitchell carded a 74 in round one, followed by an 81 in the second round. Floyd carded a 79 in the morning and then improved by three strokes for a 76 in the afternoon.
 
Another two Lubbock Christian golfers also played at the tournament, competing apart from the team. Freshman Tristan Nelson currently sits in 42^nd individually, shooting a combined 163 on the day, while Chase Mykleby carded a total of 172 across two rounds and is currently in 45^th.
 
Lubbock Christian will play the third and final round of the tournament on Tuesday morning.
