Mr. Ovell was driving a 2005 Freight-liner truck with a dump trailer attached eastbound on SR-299 at approximately 45 MPH entering into a left bearing curve in the roadway. As Mr. Ovall entered the curve, he allowed both the truck and trailer right side wheels to leave the roadway and travel onto the dirt shoulder. Mr. Ovall attempted to regain control of the truck by steering to the left. Mr. Oval was able to get the truck back onto the roadway, but the trailer struck a metal beam guardrail causing it to roll over. After the crash, the trailer came to rest on the north shoulder of SR-299. The truck remained on its wheels. The trailer spilled a load of old appliances that were being taken to a recycling center. The trailer and spilled load blocked SR-299. The California Highway Patrol, CalFire, and Caltans all responded to the scene. Mr. Ovell was not injured in the crash.
