On top of winning it all, the Bears had an eventful summer of competition. Ryan Grimsland won the Senior National 67kg Class and was ranked No. 2 out of all weightlifters in the country regardless of age following a July competition. Tre Luttrell, who is also a member of the nationally-ranked LR Football team, won a gold medal and snatched a massive lifetime PR of 140kg/308lb and is now considered a potential Olympian following his football career. Sean Hammell earned a bronze medal of his own and hit a PR along the way.
Hannah Dunn medaled for the women's program and is one of the top female weightlifters nationally. Morgan McCullough became the top 102kg junior in the country and earned a Silver Medal in the Clean & Jerk in the senior class.
After a year of competition, coach Travis Mash commented, "This is the most amazing team I have ever coached and I am so excited for the future. Lenoir-Rhyne has the potential of producing Olympians from this weightlifting program and very successful ones at that."
With all the momentum of a strong first season behind them, Coach Mash and the Bears prepare for a second year of growth and success.
