The Ravens-Chiefs matchup on "Sunday Night Football" lived up to its billing.
In what was viewed as a possible AFC championship game preview, Patrick Mahomes put on another impressive offensive display but Lamar Jackson and the Ravens marched back late and recovered a fumble to complete a comeback victory that moved Jackson to 1-3 in his career against Kansas City.
WEEK 3 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
SN looks at five of the craziest stats to come from the Ravens' 36-35 win over the two-time reigning AFC champion:
Rushing yardage disparity
Since 2019, Jackson's first full season as the starting quarterback, no team has been better at rushing than the Ravens. Baltimore has accumulated 6,556 rushing yards, with the next closest team being the Titans at 4,999, according to Stathead. So it's no surprise when it outgains teams on the ground.
The standout stat in this entry is how much the Ravens outgained the Chiefs. Baltimore finished with 251 rushing yards to the Chiefs' 62. Kansas City's leading rusher was Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who gained just 46 yards on 13 carries. Jackson led the Ravens with 16 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns, which helped him reach another milestone.

History for Jackson
No quarterback over the time that Jackson has been in the league is close to him in rushing. His 2,992 rushing yards are more than 1,300 better than Josh Allen's 1,606 yards. He's already 13th all time in rushing by quarterbacks and he made more history Sunday.

Jackson moved past Michael Vick for the most regular-season games of at least 100 yards rushing and passing with his ninth, according to Stathead. Perhaps most impressively, he is 9-0 in those games. It was also his fourth game with at least 200 passing yards and 100 rushing yards, snapping a tie with Russell Wilson and Cam Newton for first in that class.
Time of possession battle
The Ravens' rush-heavy offense helped them control the clock and finish with a sizeable advantage over Kansas City. Baltimore had the ball for 35:59 while the Chiefs controlled it for just 24:01.

With Jackson at the helm, the team more often than not has won the time of possession battle. Still, this was the 15th-highest time of possession for Baltimore during the regular season since Jackson became the starter, while it was the seventh-lowest for Mahomes during his time in Kansas City.
Chiefs on third down
Mahomes and the Chiefs don't often find themselves in third-down situations. Since the start of his MVP-winning 2018 season, the Chiefs have had the fewest third-down attempts in the NFL with 570, according to Stathead. The Chiefs were rarely in third down on Sunday, too.

Kansas City finished Sunday's game with just six third-down attempts, which was tied for the ninth-fewest attempts in a regular-season game since 1991, according to Stathead. Somehow, that is not even the fewest in the Mahomes era; the Chiefs had five against the Steelers in Week 2 in 2018.
The problem for the Chiefs on Sunday was their inefficiency. Only once did they convert on third down, the second-fewest third-down conversions of Mahomes' career. Kansas City went 0 for 8 on third down against the Broncos in their clash on Oct. 25, 2020.
Ravens back off on blitzing
Mahomes has been among the most difficult quarterbacks to reach since moving behind center. Kansas City’s 77 sacks allowed since the start of the 2018 season are the fourth-fewest in the NFL. He was unfazed Sunday as the Ravens blitzed him four times early in the game; he torched them for 73 yards and a touchdown on four completions.
Last season, in Week 3, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense was at their best passing against the Ravens blitz. Tonight, the Ravens rarely sent more than four rushers.

The Ravens, who have recorded the highest blitz percentage in the NFL since 2018, then took a step back. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, they blitzed Mahomes just 12.9 percent of the time, their lowest percentage since Don "Wink" Martindale took over as defensive coordinator in 2018. They did not record any sacks and Mahomes did throw three touchdown passes, but they shut out the Chiefs in the fourth quarter.
