Coming Up, The First Big Three-Day Weekend – Pasadena Weekendr - Pasadena Now

boonoor.blogspot.com

Memorial Day Weekend is actually not that far away. And, these things take planning, especially in the pandemic era. As the state begins to slowly re-open, some destinations are obvious; others less so.

Let’s peruse, shall we?

As you likely know by now, Disneyland will reopen April 30.

That might be all you need to know, but just to be on the safe side: to enter a park, both a park reservation and valid ticket, for the same park on the same date, are required for guests age 3 and older. And, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than three households, per state guidelines, according to the park’s most recent announcement.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen on April 29, 2021. The Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel are still closed,  to reopen at a later date. The Downtown Disney District is open with select retail and dining locations.

According to Disney’s website, “Upon reopening, certain parks, hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings will be modified or unavailable, will have limited capacity and will be subject to limited availability or even closure, and park admission and offerings are not guaranteed.”

Let’s be optimistic, shall we?

Because Visit Anaheim has partnered with Disney Good Neighbor Hotels, where participating hotels are offering special deals and discounts on two-night hotel stays. All participating hotels are also providing a free limited-edition Disneyland® Resort Castle Stainless Steel Water Bottle with a qualified stay at an Anaheim area hotel.

Perhaps real mountains are more your thing? The slopes atop Mammoth Mountain in Mono County will be staying open through Memorial Day Weekend  for just a little more spring skiing.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of savings including up to 40% off lift tickets, up to $100 in resort credit at select lodging options, 20% off scenic gondola rides and more during Mammoth’s ‘Second Season’ savings.

You never need an excuse or special season to visit the national parks. The gateway town for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, Visalia, is offering a free annual park pass to those who book a three-night stay at any participating Visalia hotels.

Yes, there are nearby beaches, but nearby beaches are just nearby beaches. Let’s go somewhere.

Rosewood Miramar Beach, just outside of Santa Barbara in the upscale beach town of Montecito offers the ultimate Memorial Day getaway with two chic pools, six restaurants and bars, a five-star spa, and an extensive selection of water and lawn activities for guests to enjoy.

Perfectly timed for the weekend away, the resort is teaming up with DIOR to bring the ‘Dioriviera’ pop-up to the U.S. for the first time, beginning on Memorial Day. The iconic fashion house will transform two of the resort’s Bungalows into a DIOR boutique featuring the ‘Dioriviera’ summer collection and will also deck out the Cabana Pool and bocce courts with the pattern.

Let’s continue. Breweries and wineries more your style, perhaps?

California welcomes two new spots that will open their doors on Memorial Day Weekend—Mare Island Brewery Taproom in Benicia and Bacchus Landing in Sonoma County.

Mare Island will have a dozen beers on tap, along with a wine and bar menu, and throughout the summer, will be offering trivia events, live music and speciality brews. Bacchus Landing is a curated collective of world-class boutique wineries with small-production wines in five tasting room spaces on the three-acre property.

Experiences vary from each tasting room and guests can enjoy pairings of artisanal Sonoma County bites on the outdoor piazza.

That’s just a gentle nudge. We’ll be offering you more suggestions as that first first big three-day weekend looms ever closer.
