First Alert for rain moving in Thursday morning - WBRC

First Alert For the Small Chance for Snow Thursday Night: An upper level low is forecast to sweep through North Alabama as we head into Thursday evening and into early Friday morning. The low will help to produce another batch of showers across Central Alabama during this time frame. Temperatures remain questionable at this point, but there could be just enough dynamic cooling that rain could transition to a sleet/snow mix for southern Tennessee and into far North Alabama. Areas that have the potential to see a change over to a wintry mix will likely include Marion, Winston, Cullman, Blount, Etowah, and Cherokee counties. With surface temperatures likely staying above freezing Thursday night, I am not anticipating significant issues or accumulation at this time. Accumulating snow will be possible for far northeast AL, Georgia Mountains, and into parts of east Tennessee tomorrow night. A few lingering showers will be possible before 10 a.m. Friday. Temperatures are forecast to drop into the upper 30s Friday morning with highs in the mid 40s. Most of Friday will stay partly sunny to mostly cloudy.
