This week’s Season 5 patch for Call of Duty: Warzone can be pre-loaded right now by some.
For the first time ever, Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare players are reporting that the Season 5 update, due to officially release on Wednesday, is now available to pre-download.
A number of players on PS4 saw a notification for patch 1.24 in their console’s download section, and shared screenshots on Reddit. The patch is a little over 36GB, but it won’t actually install until Wednesday.
Once it’s done downloading, you’ll be able to continue playing the current version of the game. You’ll also notice that the patch has an install date, which is when its content will unlock.
So far, Xbox One and PC players have not received a similar option, but it looks like the ability to pre-load the patch is slowly going live for players. This is nonetheless great news for the many who have been struggling with Warzone patch sizes, particularly as servers are hit hard the day of release.
A number of players have suggested in the past that Infinity Ward should make it possible to pre-download Warzone’s massive patches ahead of time, and it seems the developer has actually worked to make that possible.
Earlier today, Infinity Ward warned that the Season 5 patch is going to be big, so it’s great to see that – at the very least – not everyone will be downloading it at the same time come launch.
Season 5, which kicks off on Wednesday, is bringing big changes to the Warzone map, two new weapons, a new multiplayer faction and more.
