A duo broke into a Bayonne warehouse and used forklifts to load $5,000 of goods into a rental truck before being busted by the police, authorities said.

Anthony Padilla, 43, of Bayonne, has been charged with burglary, theft, possession of fraudulent identifications, credit card theft, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of burglar’s tools, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Additionally, Amir Ibrahim, 37, of Rahway, is accused of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of CDS (oxycodone), possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and possession of burglar’s tools, authorities said.

Ibrahim and Padilla were taken into custody around 1:43 a.m. on Sunday from from 8 Hook Road, the Ramot Hills business. Officers responded to the location on a report of a burglary in progress.

The owner of the business reported to police dispatch that he was currently observing, via CCTV, two individuals inside of the warehouse and a Ryder truck parked outside.

Upon officers arriving, they observed the Ryder truck, with the rear cargo door open, parked in the loading bay of the warehouse and heard people on the inside of the warehouse operating some type of machinery.

According to the owner, no one should be in the warehouse at this time. As officers made entry into the warehouse, they observed a man, later identified as Ibrahim, operating a forklift and another man, later identified as Padilla, actively loading items into the Ryder truck.

Both men were ordered to stop their actions and were placed into handcuffs. A detailed investigation led to the discovery that several pallets of various merchandise had been
shrink-wrapped and moved from their original storage area utilizing the forklift.

Inside of the Ryder truck’s cargo and passenger areas, officers recovered bolt cutters, 20 boxes of merchandise belonging to the business estimated to be valued at $5,000, a pallet jack belonging to the business, narcotic paraphernalia, and backpacks belonging to
Padilla and Ibrahim, along with various loose items stolen from the warehouse.

During the investigation, it was also learned that the Ryder truck had been reported stolen out of Denver, Colorado on June 30th. A search incident to the arrest of Padilla led to the recovery of a used hypodermic syringe from his person and a wallet containing identification and credit cards belonging to numerous different people.

He was also discovered to be in possession of an additional wallet belonging to one individual that contained several pieces of identification, bankcards, and personal
papers.

Additionally, a search incident to the arrest of Ibrahim led to the recovery of Oxycodone, police said.
