The three Buffaloes selected are Sage Hurta, Joe Klecker and Dani Jones. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes. All nominees must have a GPA of 3.30 or above and be a starter or important reserve.
Hurta, a returning Academic All-American, is a senior with a 3.97 GPA in chemical and biological engineering. In the fall of 2019, Hurta became just the second-ever CU female athlete to earn her fourth All-America honor in cross country. She also is the school record holder for the outdoor 800.
Jones, a four-time national champion, is a redshirt senior with a 3.33 GPA in psychology and speech, language and hearing sciences. This is her first All-District selection. She was one of 10 women that earned three All-America honors this indoor season.
Klecker, the NCAA cross country individual runner-up, is a redshirt senior with a 3.66 GPA in biochemistry. Klecker reset his own school record in the indoor 5,000 this season and broke the Colorado soil record in the mile at 4:01.00. This is his first All-District selection.
All three will automatically be eligible to become an Academic All-American. The District 7 is composed of 12 women and 13 men from Division I schools in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.
The 2020 Academic All-District Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top
student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 22-25.
