Ludhiana, May 20
With easing of restrictions in the curfew/lockdown by the Punjab Government, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has decided to resume all work related to new electricity connections, extension in load of all categories of consumers, including registration of new applications with immediate effect.
The PSPCL authorities have issued directions in a commercial circular (23/2020 dated May 18, 2020) to all distribution circles and zonal heads to release all pending connection that have already been processed, accept fresh applications for new connections or extension in load from consumers.
It has, however, been emphasised that compliance with the instruction regarding containment zones as well as precautions to be taken against spread of Covid-19 by the public dealing staff like wearing of masks, sanitising hands and observing social distancing be ensured.
After imposition of the curfew and lockdown due to the coronavirus threat, the PSPCL had discontinued all non-essential services like meter reading, billing and release of new connections from April 9, 2020, onwards as per directions issued through commercial circular (16/2020 dated April 9).
Earlier, limited public working was resumed at PSPCL offices here from May 8 onwards when cash counters opened for accepting payment of electricity bills. Consumers were permitted to visit PSPCL offices for redressal of their complaints in connection with faulty meters, electricity bills and all related works with the condition that all precaution would be observed against the spread of Covid-19 and social distancing would be maintained.
PSPCL officials said as per instruction from the head office all work to release new connections and extension of load had resumed at all the 76 subdivisions in Central Zone.
