AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Track and Field/Cross Country signed eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent this week, the first of the 2020-21 signing period. Six of the eight signees are in-state products. A look at each of the student-athletes to sign with the University of Texas' Track and Field/Cross Country program to date:

Meredith Adams | Throws | St. Petersburg, Fla. | Canterbury
• Placed third in the discus at the 2019 FHSAA State Track & Field Championships with a throw of 41.36m/135-8 … also competed in the high and triple jump events at the state meet … competed in the discus (1st), high jump (2nd), triple jump (3rd) and shot put (4th) at districts … won the discus throw at 39.86m/130-9 at the Shorecrest Senior Night meet in March 2019 … was one of eight discus wins for her during the 2019 outdoor season … threw a personal-best 41.89m/137-5 en route to victory at the Calvary Christian Warrior Invite … placed eighth in her signature event at the 2018 FHSAA State Track and Field Championships.

Caleb Boger | Sprints | Mesquite, TX | Mesquite/Barton CC
• A two-time NJCAA All-American transferring from Barton (KS) … won the 2020 NJCAA 200-meter indoor title back in March, clocking a personal-best 20.68 en route to victory … also helped the Cougars placed third in the 4x400-meter relay at the national meet … his All-America efforts helped Barton finish second in the team standings at the NJCAA National Championships … ran a collegiate-best 6.77 in the 60-meter dash in his first collegiate race at the Ted Nelson Invitational in January 2020 … his mark helped him win the 60-meter event in College Station … finished in the top three of every 200-meter race he ran, winning each of the last five (three finals, two semifinal heats).

Martin Chavez | Distance | Duncanville, Texas | Duncanville
• Has won three times during the 2020 cross country season at Duncanville, all in 5K races … opened his season with a win at the Timberview Invitational, clocking 15:44.3 … cut 20 seconds off his 5K time en route to a win at the UIL 6A District 11 Meet a month later … chopped nearly 40 seconds off of that time while winning the UIL 6A Region 2 Championship in 14:47.9.

Edwin Gomez | Distance | San Elizario, Texas | San Elizario
• Won four times during the 2020 cross country season, including at the UIL 4A Region 1 Championship – a three-mile race … also was victorious at the Tornillo/San Elizario Cross Country Invitational, the El Paso-area Districts Preview Meet and the UIL 4A District 01 meet … posted six top-five finishes, including two wins, during his 2019 cross country season … won four times as a sophomore and four times as a freshman … won the state title as a freshman and finished runner-up in each of the past two seasons … won the 800-meter state title in 2019, while also finishing third in the 1,600m and 3,200m … won the state title in the 1,600m and 3,200m in 2018 … only the second person from El Paso County to qualify for the Nike Cross Nationals … qualified by placing fifth in the Nike Regionals in Houston in 2018.

Chrystal Herpin | Throws | Pearland, Texas | Dawson
• Comes to Texas as a skilled thrower … finished third in a fan poll for the VYPE Houston 2020 Girls Thrower of the Year … was a two-event qualifier at the Texas Track and Field State Championships, earning a spot in the discus and shot put field … set a then-personal-best in the shot put en route to qualifying for a state, launching the orb a career-best 47-5 … her mark was also a Dawson High School record … won the event by 4 1/2 feet … uncorked a winning throw of 154-10 in the discus to earn a spot at the state meet for the second-straight year in 2019 … won the event by more than 11 feet … threw the discus a then-career-best 160-7 at the 2019 Texas Relays … that mark ranked her No. 13 in the nation in the discus … competed in four different meets where she threw the discus and shot put in 2020, winning every competition before COVID-19 halted the outdoor season.

Eva Jess | Distance | El Paso, Texas | Franklin
• Won six times during her senior cross country season at Franklin High School, including at the UIL 6A District 01 meet … placed fourth at the regional championships … as a junior, she finished second in the UIL state cross country championships in Class 1 … won the Region A and District A titles in addition to qualifying for the Nike Cross Nationals … was the first girls' runner from El Paso to qualify for Nike Nationals … placed 13th out of 195 runners at the 2019 Foot Locker South Regional in North Carolina, narrowly missing out on a spot at the national meet by three places … did run a then-personal-best 17:49 at that meet though … finished fifth at the state cross country meet as a freshman in 2017 … later took fifth in the 3,200 meters at the state track and field meet in the spring … won a national title in 2018, capturing the 1,500-meter crown at the 2018 USATF Junior Olympics … also was the national runner-up in the 3,000-meter run in the 15-16 age division.

Solomon Washington | Jumps | Round Rock, Texas | Stony Point
• Named one of the top 100 high school athletes in the country, regardless of sport, by MaxPreps in May 2020 … the only triple jumper to surpass the 50-foot mark (50-8.5) this past spring … hit his mark at the 2020 Pflugerville Panthers Relays on March 12 … later won the long jump with a mark of 23-10.25 at the Lions Relays … took second at the Saturday Night Lights meet on Aug. 1 with a jump of 23-5.25 … son of two University of Texas graduates, Johnny and Monica Washington … father, Johnny, was a three-time All-American and former school-record holder in the triple jump … one sister, Sydney, is a senior sprinter at Baylor, and the other, Symone, is a junior sprinter and jumper at Oklahoma.

Tyra Wilson | Sprints/Hurdles | Columbia, Mo. | Rock Bridge
• Ranked No. 6 on MileSplit's Class of 2021 national recruiting rankings at one point … finished her sophomore season in 2019 ranked No. 1 in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, and was ranked second in the 400-meter hurdles … secured a career-best, wind-legal 100-meter hurdles time of 13.39 seconds at the USATF U20 Championships in 2019 … that time was part of five sub-14 performances on the year as she finished the season at No. 4 in the United States … clocked the No. 2 U.S. mark of 49.79 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles and No. 4 in the 400-meter hurdles at 58.33 as well … her 58.33 mark was one of two sub-60 efforts at the USATF U20 Championships … won four individual state championships in her first two season at Rock Bridge High School … won the 300-meter hurdles her freshman year, then won state titles in the triple jump, 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles as a sophomore … also finished second in the 200-meter dash in 2019.
