A refrigerated truck carrying about 4,600 pounds of food from the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County crashed Monday morning near Vandenberg Air Force Base.

It happened just after 9:30 a.m. at the intersection in front of the base's main gate.

According to the Foodbank, the truck was traveling from their Santa Maria warehouse to the Boys & Girls Club in Lompoc for a food distribution event.

While making a left-hand turn at the intersection, the truck flipped onto its side. The Foodbank says the driver and passenger, both National Guard members, were not injured.

Foodbank officials say the truck was not speeding and it was not overloaded. The cause of the crash is under investigation. A traffic pole was damaged, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The truck was reportedly carrying about $6,500 worth of produce, rice, beans, cheese, milk, cereal, and water.
