Louisiana's fourth wave of COVID continues to surge higher.
The state added more than 5,000 new COVID cases today, one of the single-largest days of growth since the start of the pandemic in Spring 2020. The state's total new cases is large, but the state's positivity is also high – greater than 15%.
Louisiana has struggled in recent days because of the state's vaccination rates, which are far lower than average. For perspective, Vermont has the highest vaccination rates in the country. That state has added 32 new COVID cases in the past 3 days.
In Lafourche Parish alone, we are adding far more than that each day.
