Police are still searching for the driver of a red pickup involved in an accident that caused a semi-truck to swerve and roll down an embankment.

The incident occurred on US 101 near Shelton, Washington on February, 16.

A red pickup truck dropped a load of pallets on the highway, creating a dangerous obstacle for drivers. Around 11:21 a.m. a semi-truck swerved to avoid hitting the pallets and tipped on its side, spilling its load of wood-chips, according to a State Patrol news release.

The cleanup process blocked right-lane traffic on the northbound side of the highway for over five hours. Crews reopened the road around 4:49 p.m.

The semi truck driver, a 64-year-old Port Angeles man, was not injured.

Authorities are still searching for the driver of the red pickup truck. They are asking anyone that witnessed the incident or has more information about the red pick-up truck to call State Patrol at 360-473-0300.
